There are three primary types of breast implants: saline-filled, silicone-gel-filled and adjustable or Becker implants. Saline implants have a silicone elastomer shell filled with sterile saline liquid. Silicone gel implants have a silicone shell filled with a viscous silicone gel. Currently the FDA approves the use of saline-filled implants for breast augmentation, while silicone gel-filled implants are only approved for certain types. Be sure to ask your doctor about the types of implants available for breast augmentation.
The choice affects the chest diameter, thickness of subcutaneous cover.
There are a number of factors to consider when choosing the right Implant. These will include the volume or size a patient is looking for to augment the breasts. The shape of the breasts, and the amount of native breast tissue as well as thickness of the overlying tissues will help determine the correct Implant suitable to each patient.
Implant should be FDA approved and marketed by a reliable medical company. My preference is a textured cohesive gel implant.
Choosing implant is very important a correct clinic evaluation of the patient, breast preoperative volume, shape and size, chest conformation,
tissues elasticity, etc.Patient's wish is also very important.

Here you have 6 important things you need to know when choosing to undergo a breast augmentation:
1.Chose an experienced doctor. If complications arise during the surgery he will know how to react and what to do.
2.Chose the prosthesis with lifetime warranty. They incorporate the latest technology in the field, and the risk that the body rejects them is minimal. The best and most commonly used are Mentor and Allergan (known as the Matrix). And make sure the clinic where you have the surgery gives you their passport and guarantee.
3.Before the operation ask your doctor about the possible risks and complications. A clinic with experience in the field will give a reading consent information about the risks and complications of the surgery, and an agreement for surgery and anesthesia.
4.Chose a clinic that keeps you hospitalized for at least two days, and has guard line overnight. In case of unforeseen complications a plastic surgeon and an antestheologist are most able to help you.
5.The final result of a surgery varies from person to person. Do not go to the doctor with the idea that you want the same size your friend has becuase it looks great, you and our friend might have very different shapes, so it might not look as great for you. Let your doctor tell you what form and size is most suitable for you.
6. When you make an appointment and you are told the price, make sure they include all the costs, like pre-operative investigations ( blood tests, EKG, mamary echography, the anesthesia all pre-, during- and post-operative medication, the operation itself, all pre- and post-operative medical treatments, all surgical wear (operative and post-operative), your stay at the Clinic: 1 - 2 days, a compressive bra which should be worn for at least 6 weeks.
All these things must be done before a surgery and it is important to make sure you are told the price which includes all the extra costs.
Of course there are many other things you should take into consideration.
