RE: How long do breast implants last?

Hello,

That is a good question.

In fact patient safety has importantly improved in today's implants manufacture. Most of the implants, regardless of the shape are filled by cohesive silicone which has the advantage of do not migrating even if the the implant is broken.
As a mater of fact implants last FOR EVER. Unfortunately you will not.
After having a breast augmentation you will continue to age. Depending on your body shape and skin quality your breast will naturally sag. In The other hand there is always a capsule formation around the implant. In 8% of patients this capsule will be palpable and in 4% will be visible.
Today's implants only need to be removed if they are broken or if there is an infection. In the other
two major scenarios (important capsule contration or implant migration due to ageing and gravity) the implants can be replaced at the same time when the solution for the capsule and skin problem s addressed. Not all the patients will need to have more than one surgery, however some will.
