What is the difference between augmentation and breast lift?

I would like to have my breasts shaped by plastic surgery. However, I am confused about the terms augmentation and breast lift. What's the difference? When is augmentation used and when is a breast lift performed?

RE: What is the difference between augmentation and breast lift?

Breast lift refers to the mastopexy procedure in which the breast tissue is shaped and positioned in an upper position. It can be combined with breast augmentation but it's usually done without an implant. Augmentation is used to enlarge small breasts.

According to the preoperative evaluation of breast volume, sagging skin/gland,shape ,etc. the mastopexy can be performed with or without breast reduction or breast implant

Augmentation involves the use of implants in surgery. Lifting involves removing excess skin from the breast but both can be combined if the patient wants in addition to lift and bigger breasts.

An augmentation is when the size of the breast is made bigger (bigger cup size). A lifting is when the breast tissue is lifted to a higher position without changing the cup size. A combination of both techniques can be performed.

kind regards
