How painful is a face lift?

I would like to undergo a face lift but I'm afraid of postoperative pain. What are the patients' experiences with pain after the surgery? Can the pain be alleviated effectively ?

The Face Lift is not painfull in most of the patients yet eventually the pain can be controlled with painkillers. The patient will fill some tension in the lower face for few days.

pain control medication are effective and controlling pain before its onset is the best strategy to undergo a pain free procedure.

Pain is usually not a major problem after face lift surgery and be alleviated with simple pain killers. Mots patients complain of some discomfort without having real pain complaints. Kind regards Dr A ZELTZER

Our patients take only oral pain killers after face lift surgery, and their post-operative period is completely pain free.

My plastic surgeon insists on a general, however I wonder why these procedures cannot be done with just local. Is he unskilled in local?

the face lift, done under general anesthesia conditions, is a very sophisticated operation. after the operation is done, if you the medications in the way and the intervals that your surgeon prescribed... no pain you will suffer!

We have been performing all kinds of face lifts, under local anesthesia for more than 2 decades. Local anesthesia is certainly the safest form of anesthesia.

Face lift and blepharoplasty can be perfectly made under local anesthesia with a sedation administrated by the anesthesiologist.
A proper local anesthesia will give you anesthesia during the surgery and lack of pain in the post operative.
Patients who have had a face lift say that this is not a painfull surgery, and any discomfort can be perfectly treated by oral painkillers.

Not painful at all. I had one three days ago-face/neck. Not once in pain. In fact, I've felt nothing but great and if I didn't know I need to take it easy and heal, I'd be out celebrating because my energy and mood is exceptional!! Got to go to the right Doctor though. Seriously consider mine: Dr. Joseph Thomas Cruise in Newport Beach, Ca. Top notch and is very reasonably priced and five star all the way..Check out his website. His work speaks for itself and you will not find more extensive or better reviews than he has. Over and beyond your expectations..:)

Hello,

The face lift is a delicate surgery and it must be done only by experienced surgeons. In our clinic, we prefer to use general anesthesia for this type of surgery for your own comfort, because it might be stressful to be awake during such a complex procedure. You should avoid the surgeons who perform this kind of surgery only with local anesthesia.
The pain after the surgery a subjective matter, because we are all different and we don`t respond the same to a treatment. However, we administrate painkillers to our patients.

On our website, you can see pictures before and after the surgery. For more information please do not hesitate to contact us via phone or e-mail.

it is to be expected, that an operation like facelift is something very, very painful!!! why?
because it is on the face, so many nerves, wow!!
every wound, even surgical incisions, are disposed to an immediate process of healing, which one is expendable regarding the time!!!
so, do not worry, as the pain is something with limitation and good medicines are invented, the situation is clear and depends on you - just listen carefully your plastic surgeon and dont forget to take the medicines on time, that's it.

A face lift is not a particularly painful procedure. The areas that are undermined will actually be numb temporarily. Most of our patients do not require pain medication after about three days following the procedure although they may take some pain medication at night to allow them to sleep well after the first three days.

We have been performing face lifts for more than 2 decades under local anesthesia. There is no pain, no bleeding, using the Khawajas face lift anesthesia, and no hospital admission. Dr.H.A.Khawaja, pioneered several face lift techniques, performed safely, and painlessly under local anesthesia. These have been extensively published as articles, book chapters ( Simplified Facial Rejuvenation; Simplified Cosmetic Surgery, Dermatologic Surgery Journal, Cosmetic Dermatology Journal, International Journal of Cosmetic Medicine & Surgery ) and on-line. Examples are Delta-Lift, Transcutaneous Face Lift, Simplified S-Lift, Quick K ( Khawajas ) Lift, Modified Minimally Invasive Transcutaneous Face Lift ( MMITCFL ), Khawajas Thread Face Lift, Silk Lift, Prolene Lift etc.

There is no subsitute for experience. Face lift must be performed by an experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon.

Surprisingly pain-free! This is due to the sensory nerves being cut and temporarily damaged as part of the procedure - they regrow over the next few months. You would, however, have a feeling of tightness around the neck, and possibly a feeling of difficulty in swallowing - both of which are temporary

PLASTIC SURGERY BERLIN - FACE LIFT - SINIS

It depends on the layers and levels you dissect. Normally, if only superficial layer, e.g. the skin is elevated, no pain will result. If you go further, e. g. SMAS-Lift I suggest to use additionally local anesthesia for infiltration with adrenalin, which will also result in no pain after the operation. If you compare it with other operations (e.g. abonimal interventions) the pain that results is harmless and not really hard.
Sincerely,

Nektarios Sinis
