According to what criteria should I choose a clinic before undergoing nose surgery?

I want to undergo rhinoplasty but there are a large number of clinics offering the procedure and it is difficult to choose the right one. According to what criteria do I choose?

RE: According to what criteria should I choose a clinic before undergoing nose surgery?

First, as in every kind of surgery, you must be aware that you won't be operated by a clinic but by a surgeon!Especially for rhinoplasty, the choice of the surgeon is critical, as it's the most difficult procedure in aesthetic surgery and as any defect can't be hidden!
So if you don't know someone who benefited of a well performed rhinoplasty, and if you have any clue about the the quality of the surgeons close to you, you could tr to google the surgeon. If he's involved in rhinoplasty meetings by giving lectures on rhinoplasty, if he has written scientific articles or books on rhinoplasty, you can be quite sure that he's experienced in rhinoplasty.
Then, during the first consultation, you can assess how the surgeon examine your nose, explain all the issues of a rhinoplasty, does simulations to try and understand your wishes while explaining what is achievable or not. A surgeon focused on rhinoplasty should also assess your breathing, examine the inside of your nose...
Any surgeon focused in rhinoplasty should also show you examples of operated noses close to your nose features.
Lastly, you'd better always compare 2-3 surgeons before undergoing such a technical operation. And you must of course mutually feel confident with your surgeon!

First Rhinoplasty Consultation: During the initial consultation, We will gather information to perform a complete nasal history assessment. - We will ask what you like or dislike about your nose, discuss the possibilities with you, any nasal problems, your general medical history, and if you\'ve ever had injuries resulting in an undesirable change in your nose. Next - We will analyze the face to determine proper proportions and surgical options. Photos may be taken to assist in the analysis and computerized simulation of the results. The Computerized simulation has 70 -80 % accuracy. - We will present our assessment, answer any questions you may have and explain the factors that can influence the procedure and the results. These factors include the structure of your nasal bones and cartilage, the shape of your face, the thickness of your skin, your age, and your expectations. We want all of your questions answered before scheduling surgery. - For those with breathing problems or previous injuries, a more thorough examination will help us find any obstructions inside the nose. We may use a device to see the anatomy inside the nose. This information will help us better advise you of any corrective procedures that may be needed. - We will also explain the techniques and anesthesia to be used, where the surgery will be performed, the risks and costs involved, and any options you may have.

Result of any surgery is directly dependent upon knowledge level of surgeon and his surgical skill, this concept is applicable for all surgeries but more so for rhinoplasty. your surgeon should be able to understand your problems both structural and functional. you may not be able to understand technical language but you may assess him logically. He or she should be able to handle any type of nose. you may see his work and before after pictures.

I don't think that the clinic should be the first parameter to be evaluated while deciding to undergo rhinoplasty. The surgeon should be: rhinoplasty is a well defined type of plastic surgery, which requests a dedicated training and experience. Even the best plastic surgeons (whatever this means) couldn't be the best "rhinosurgeons" if not trained and experienced in this field. So the first parameter to evaluate should be the surgeon's curriculum and casistic.

A Facial Plastic Surgeon\'s adivce on how to find the right provider

One of the most important aspects of cosmetic surgery is choosing the right surgeon. With the greater acceptance of cosmetic surgery, finding a qualified provider is easier then ever. It is important to do your homework as choosing right surgeon can be as rewarding as choosing the wrong surgeon can be disastrous. I typically recommend meeting several providers before deciding on the one that best suits your needs.

An important factor to consider when selecting among the various cosmetic surgeons is the interaction and relationship between yourself and the doctor. Your doctor should listen to you, never hurry you along, and speak with you in language that you can understand.

Becoming educated about the desired procedure(s) will make it easier to engage the surgeon in important conversations about your treatment. Communicating desired goals, as well as voicing any concerns and asking questions will allow the doctor to discuss if the goals are realistic and attainable.

ARE THERE RESOURCES FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE QUESTIONS SIMILAR TO YOURS?

A good place to begin is by browsing through popular websites for patients contemplating cosmetic procedures. Registration is free and users can ask questions and get a variety of opinions, albeit very short, from specialists all over the country.
Using Google or any search engine to find a local provider is also a good idea. However, keep in mind that many of the top links can be paid advertisements or \"pay per click\" programs.

Make sure to explore your provider\'s website. As a surgeon, my website is very important to my practice. It gives prospective patients a chance to learn about me as a person as well as gives them a chance to view a small part of my portfolio of before and after results. My website is also a tool to help answer many questions, such as my credentials, ect, so that during the consultation our time can be spent focusing on the needs of the patient instead of where I completed my training.

IMPORTANT CRITERIA FOR SELECTING A SURGEON

Before choosing a surgeon, please keep in mind this important information:

1. In my opinion the two medical boards that best regulate the credentials of their members are the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery . Your surgeon should be board certified/eligible by one of these boards. In addition, oculoplastic surgeons are qualified to perform eyelid and browlifts.

2. Check the website of your state medical board to see if a surgeon has any actions / censures against them. Bad apples will typically have multiple complaints.

3. Your surgeon should be able to perform your requested procedures at a local hospital. Hospitals go through lengthy review processes before granting surgical privileges. If a provider is not credentialed to perform a requested procedure at any local hospitals, I would be suspicious.

4. And finally, go with your intuition. If something doesn\'t feel right, it probably isn\'t. Be suspicious of a provider that offers the same procedure at half the cost of everyone else in town. Make sure that your surgeon is a person that you can trust and someone who will be with you through the end.

Hope this helps.

ask someone who underwent a rhinoplasty procedure, than you will be much closer to the answer, which clinic/surgeon to choose. than you can make questions about the operation, risks, postoperative care....
p.s. it's better to talk than to chat with previously operated persons!
good luck

RE: According to what criteria should I choose a clinic before undergoing nose surgery?

Here you have 5 important things you need to know when choosing to undergo a rhinoplasty:

1.Chose an experienced doctor. If complications arise during the surgery he will know how to react and what to do.
2.Before the operation ask your doctor about the possible risks and complications. A clinic with experience in the field will give a reading consent information about the risks and complications of the surgery, and an agreement for surgery and anesthesia.
3.Chose a clinic that keeps you hospitalized for at least two days, and has guard line overnight. In case of unforeseen complications a plastic surgeon and an antestheologist are most able to help you.
4.The final result of a surgery varies from person to person. Do not go to the doctor with the idea that you want the same nose your friend has becuase it looks great, you and our friend have very different shapes, so it might not look as great for you. Let your doctor tell you what form is most suitable for you.
5. When you make an appointment and you are told the price, make sure they include all the costs, like pre-operative investigations ( blood tests, EKG, the anesthesia all pre-, during- and post-operative medication, the operation itself, all pre- and post-operative medical treatments, operative and post-operative), your stay at the Clinic: 1 - 2 days,
All these things must be done before a surgery and it is important to make sure you are told the price which includes all the extra costs.

Of course there are many other things you should take into consideration.

RE: According to what criteria should I choose a clinic before undergoing nose surgery?

You have first to choose your plastic surgeon with whom you'll discuss about the procedure and therefore the clinic where you'll be operated. Patients might be confused by the myriad of informations published by clinics.
Thus the full trust in you surgeon must be your priority you don't need to focus on the clinic unless you need a high level of confort.

RE: According to what criteria should I choose a clinic before undergoing nose surgery?

At first you should take your time to do a decision. Do not hurry and delay the operation as long as you find someone you trust in. This is the golden rule. It is very important to clarify the density of operations your surgeon Performs during a year in order to obtain a picture or an impression how experienced he is. However, if you do not trust him or her better to leave the office and find somebody else. Some quality criterias of plastic and aesthetic surgery are listed here:

Good luck!

Looking for the right rhinoplasty cosmetic surgeon should be a well panned action – go for the surgeon with ample experience in this field, and make sure you check the surgeon’s credentials and see his or her previous work in form of before and after nose job photos. Also, the surgeon should be able to explain what will be done in your individual case and what you might expect after the surgery.

Check the credentials. Any surgeon performing rinoplasty should have experience that goes beyond the training program for at least one year.

RE: According to what criteria should I choose a clinic before undergoing nose surgery?

Dear,
We have special expertise in Nose Surgery ( Rhinoplasty ). We perform nose surgery totally via local anesthesia, whether it involves bone, or soft tissue cartilages. There are a number of procedures that can be performed, depending on the patient, but in any case you go home after the procedure, and there is no hospital admission. Results are generally splendid, and we never had any major problems. We have published several techniques on Rhinoplasty as book chapters, and as articles, some of them are Suture Nasal Tip Lift published in Cosmetic Dermatology Journal, Simplified Rhinoplasty, published in Simplified Cosmetic Surgery Book, and in Advanced Aesthetic Rhinoplasty book, Simplified Aesthetic Surgery book etc. If you are interested in having your nose job done in a most simple way without complications, and desire excellent results, you should contact us.

a rhinoplastie should be carried out by an experienced surgeon, e.g. a plastic surgeon. the decision should not be based on the clinic but rather the competence of the surgeon. this will depend on their training, expertise, and how many rhinoplasties they have performed. verify that the surgeon is in good standing with the medical licensing board and that the surgeon is certified to carry out these procedures.you should consult 2-3 surgeons when considering a rhinoplasty. it will be money and time well spent.

You have to consult with the surgeon that is goin to operate you and you'll see if you can rely on him or not. He must be well prepared, but is a contract between he and you. That is not possible to choose if you don't know him personally
