Rhinoplasty can be used to reduce or enlarge the size of the nose. The cartilage in the nose can be sculpted to obtain significant aesthetic enhancement. The surgeon can access the cartilage under the nose by either entering through the nostrils or by making an incision on the outside of the nose.

The rhinoplasty can be done by open technik ( that takes 1-3 hours, and involves remodelation so the hump nose
and the top nose), or by closed technik ( that takes 1 hour and involves remodelation just of the hump nose).

It's just impossible to explain in few words wath a rhinoplasty technically involves, as they're as many rhinoplasty procedures as different noses. It's just the most difficult and demanding operation of aesthetic surgery and your surgeon must be a rhinoplasty expert to decrease the risks of insatisfaction and the frequent need for reoperation. The operation duration is between 90 minutes and 180 minutes for a primary nose, depending on what must be performed. But I'm sure your surgeon will explain in depth all the details of this surgery before your operation.

there are many facets to a rhinoplasty. the best thing is to make an appointment with your local plastic surgeon or ent surgeon.

basically there are open and closed techniques, both of which may include the following:

the nasal bones may be fractured,
the nasal septum,
the nasal dome cartilages,
& the nostrils may be addressed independently or all together.

what is done depends on what you are looking for and what you are starting out with.

About one and half hour.

Nose job doesn’t take more than 30 to 60 minutes. However, to perform the operation successfully it takes a very experienced cosmetic surgeon who needs to know a wide range of surgical methods in order to apply the best method for every individual case. Nose surgery requires a routine preoperative analysis of the patient, which includes blood tests and medical examination. Rhinoplasty is performed under enhanced local anesthetic. That means that besides the local anesthetic, a patient is also given a light sedative. The patient is asleep during the operation and the whole procedure is painless. One month is enough time to prepare for the rhinoplasty. Before the operation, in our correspondence and detailed conversation, we instruct our patients to stop using painkillers and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, containing acetylsalicylic acid like Aspirin, Andol or Acisal, in case they usually take these. This is a very important factor in patient’s preparation for the surgery, as this way we prevent possible bleeding and haematoma during and after the procedure. Following this instruction makes the recovery quicker and more successful, and the result of the operation is improved.

There are two main categories: open and closed rhinoplasty. The technique is mainly chosed according to the difficulty of the nose, the need to correct the septum and patient wishings. The operation may take between 40 minutes up to 1.5 hours.

let s say that you have a hump on the back of your nose... after you ve been anesthetized, and started dreaming, your plastic surgeon will infiltrate, under your nasal skin, some solution for not bleeding. after that, he will find the right place for opening it. than, with chisel and hummer, he will remove the hump. both of nasal bones will be broken and fitted in new fashion. maybe, if necessary, the correction of the septum and some other cartilaginous parts of your nose will be done. that`s it. the mask, plasters....end. some like to operate one hour some two hours. good luck!

Patients should find out everything they need to know, during examination and consultation with the chosen cosmetic surgeon. There, they will be explained what will be done in order to accomplish the desired results and what they should and shouldn't do before and after the surgery. Prior to the surgery, the patients need to have some specific blood tests done. For a standard nose job, local anaesthetic with sedation is often used. On the morning of the surgery, restrain from eating or drinking. The preparation for the surgery involves final preoperative examination, after which nurses take you in the preparation room, followed by entering the OR. There, you will be given anaesthetic and sedation. The surgery itself takes 30-60 minutes. You will have nasal pack in your nose and a metal splint on the nose to protect the new shape of your nose. After rhinoplasty, you stay at the clinic for couple of hours, where medical staff is taking care of you and cool your neck and nose area. Once you are sent to home care, you will be expected to cool your neck with ice packs during the day for three days, until you come for nasal pack removal. The splint is removed on the 7th postoperative day. Make sure you take 8-10 days off work.

Rhinoplasty is performed by either using a closed procedure, where incisions are hidden inside the nose, or an open procedure, where an incision is made across the columella. Through these incisions, the soft tissues that cover the nose are gently raised, allowing access to reshape the structure of the nose.
