Aftereffect Tummy Tuck - Abdominoplasty (Tummy tuck) - Forums & Discussion 

I am now 14 months post op. Initially there is the obvious discomfort to deal with and a tigntness to the skin. These feelings are short lived. In the months that follow the area will remain swollen. Somedays not much some days quite alot. I found it very difficult to return back to exercise as everytime I did my tummy would swell up. Again this is temporary.
14 months on my tummy is flat and free of sagging skin and the only side effect I am aware of is numbness to the skin around the area of the scar. It feels stranage for a while but its something you do get used.
All these side effects are minimal to the positive outcome of having a tumy tuck.

Two common side effects are seroma[collection of fluid] at the operation site & possibility of flap necrosis [skin flap complication]especially in smokers.Overall it is a safe surgery in trained hands & the results are gratifying.

I am 3 1/2 months post tummy tuck. The upper part of my abdomen is still swolen. Some days it is flatter than others....depending on what i eat. Several places above my navel have sharp pains. Is this normal? Is it possible to stretch what has been tightened?
