hi, im 6 weeks post op, and am concerned abt my lower middle part of my tummy, it feels hard and lumpy, and appears to be sticking out alot, at 4 weeks, i went to see the surgeon for after pics and an examination, he said i had swelling and fluids still, and to come back in 4 months, when i hold my tummy in i appear slim, but when relaxed it has a simular appearance to pre op, is it possible that my inside stitches have unravelled?.. or am i being impatient? shud i be concerned, and ring my clinic for an appointment or wait till that 4 months is over?.. confused..

Hi Mandy,

it seems like you still have some haematoma or seroma (wound fluid) in this area. You need detailed physical examination for exact evaluation and decission about further treatment. You should contact your surgeon, of course he has to care about your doubts and concerns, that has nothing to do with impatients. The bulge you describe may be a technical problem, but you need to be examinated for a definite statement. So I would advise you to contact them, if you like and it is not ot far for you make an appointment with my secretary for a second oppinian!
