Richard Hamilton, M.B., B.S., F.R.A.C.S., provides plastic and cosmetic surgery for patients at Hamilton House Day Surgery – our plastic surgery clinic in Adelaide, South Australia.

With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Hamilton believes every patient deserves personalised care that successfully meets his or her needs and expectations. By taking time to administer individualised care, Dr. Hamilton provides his patients with the rejuvenated appearance and increased self-esteem that can only result from expertly performed cosmetic and plastic surgery.

After graduating from the Adelaide University Medical School, Dr. Hamilton trained in plastic and cosmetic surgery in some of the most renowned facilities in the world. After returning to Adelaide, he became chief of the Plastic Surgery Unit at Flinders Medical Centre in 1980. In 1988, he founded Hamilton House Day Surgery in Adelaide, South Australia. His mission is simple: provide all patients with personal, expert surgical care in a comfortable, friendly environment. Hamilton House Day Surgery is a licensed Day Hospital under Commonwealth Government regulations and has achieved Accreditation status by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards, the leading authority on quality improvement systems for Australian Plastic Surgery facilities.

We have created an inviting, home-like atmosphere at our plastic surgery clinic, complete with the latest medical technology required for procedures that use local anaesthetic, intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia. Our comfortable recovery room provides patients with tea, coffee and sandwiches after surgery. A relaxing waiting room offers a wide range of reading material, while our consulting rooms offer the perfect environment in which meet Dr. Hamilton. We also offer private dressing rooms for patients. Hamilton House Day Surgery is built to deliver comfort, relaxation, confidentiality and outstanding results.

Dr. Hamilton treats patients with the assistance of skilled, friendly staff members, including Helen, our cosmetic patient advisor; Jette, our practice manager; four trained nurses; and a receptionist. Our nursing staff has extensive nursing and surgical experience. After working for several years with Dr. Hamilton, they excel at complementing his work with their own superior service.

Hamilton House Day Surgery is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or later, as needed. Preoperative consults are provided by Dr. Hamilton at Hamilton House at Cumberland Park in Adelaide, as well as some country areas such as Mt. Gambier, Port Pirie, Port Augusta and the Riverland. Special considerations are given to accommodate country SA and interstate patients.

Accounts for non cosmetic surgery are normally issued after the procedure. Cosmetic surgery is an exception, as Medicare and health fund rebates do not normally apply, so these fees are prepaid. An information sheet detailing the account system is forwarded to the patient along with the account for the initial consultation.

Hamilton House has an agreement with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) and all Hospital Funds. Prior to surgery, patients are asked to clarify their private hospital coverage details or DVA status.

Uninsured patients pay a Day Surgery Theatre Fee to cover the costs of using the operating theatre facility at Hamilton House.

Hamilton House Day Surgery accepts cash, postal orders, cheques, and most credit cards.
