Rambam Health Care Campus (RHCC) established in 1938, the largest medical center in northern Israel was named for Rabbi Moshe Ben-Maimon "the RAMBAM", the greatest Jewish physician of ancient times.

RHCC serves as a referral medical center, unifying all fields of medical science and employing a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment. Some 75,000 people are hospitalized at RHCC each year, with another 500,000 treated in its outpatient clinics and medical institutes.

RHCC also serves as the principal medical facility for the Northern Command of the Israel Defense Forces. The medical center comprises 36 departments with some 1000 beds, 45 medical units, 9 institutes, 6 laboratories and 30 administrative and maintenance departments. Among RHCC departments, some are the exclusive providers of comprehensive services for all of northern Israel, including trauma treatment, oncology, and neurosurgery.

As an academic hospital, RHCC maintains vital teaching and research links with the Technion’s Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, providing a dynamic clinical environment for diagnosis, treatment and research.

RHCC also houses internationally renowned Centers of Medical Excellence, administered by leading physicians in Israel, as well as the Meyer Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive pediatric medical services. 

Department of Plastic Surgery

The Department of Plastic Surgery specializes in reconstructive surgery for congenital defects as well as major injuries resulting from automobile accidents, work-related accidents, etc. Major burn patients are admitted to the department for medical and surgical treatment that begins in the Intensive Care Unit and continues through immediate coverage and early rehabilitation.

The Plastic Surgery Department handles the entire range of treatments in the field of plastic surgery – congenital defects such as cleft lip and palate, hypospadias, reconstructive surgery after extensive injuries, breast reconstruction after mastectomy, and removal of malignant skin lesions, including use of the MOH's technique for the relevant situations. In addition, the department performs reconstructive microsurgery in collaboration with other hospital departments, including the Ear Nose and Throat, Oral and Maxillofacial and Orthopedics departments.

The department belongs to the Surgery Division and is affiliated with the Technion Faculty of Medicine. The department also treats children hospitalized in the Pediatric Surgery Department, in the best possible environment for them.

In addition to the ongoing plastic surgery activities, the department specializes in treatment of severe burns and wounds that resist healing, and for this purpose, maintains an expert nursing clinic where advanced dressing materials and vacuum (VAC) techniques are employed. The department also operates a support group for burn patients.

The department operates a unique clinic that deals with aesthetic medicine, including all types of laser treatments, with the advantage of performing these procedures within the safe surrounding of a large and experienced medical center. Aesthetic procedures include face, nose and eyelids, liposuction, breast reduction and augmentation, abdominoplasty, peeling and scar improvement. A broad range of skin expander and skin stretching methods are available for aesthetic and reconstructive procedures.

Aesthetic Medicine Services

Aesthetic Medicine Services are provided within the Plastic Surgery Department at Rambam Healthcare Campus, including consultation and treatment in every area of cosmetic surgery. These range from simple procedures such as laser treatments for erasing and treating skin blemishes, as well as injections for the treatment of wrinkles, to complex surgical procedures.

Among others, the department performs breast alteration (Augmentations, Reductions and Pexies) using an advanced anesthesia system which reduces side effects, as well as liposuction, contouring of the face, neck and the forehead, rhinoplasties, prominent ears, abdominoplasties and more,

The Aesthetic Medicine Service was established out of the policy that cosmetic treatments are best delivered in a medical setting that is reputable, reliable and offers the highest levels of safety, experience and professional care in any situation.

The department staff participates in a number of research studies, including examining the efficiency and success of laser and pulsed light treatments, and a study on increasing the assimilation of one's own fat, injected to fill wrinkles and pitting of the skin.
