Cynthia Ann Wolfensberger, M.D.

I was born in Chicago, Illinois. However my family moved to Switzerland within a year.

After attending Kindergarten, primary and high school in the city of Zürich I graduated in 1979 and in the same year began studying medicine.

During the elective year of study it was clear that I would choose one of the technical specialties in medicine.

After finishing my studies my first position was in Radiology at the University Hospital in Zürich. This was followed by my first surgical position in Männedorf. The appointment for one year was extended and I was able to perform progressively larger operations.

Here I felt in my element. After a second surgical appointment in Frauenfeld I was appointed as head physician at the Kantonsspital in Sarnen Obwalden.

Finally Reconstructive Surgery, more complex and broader than general surgery was the next challenge soon after my marriage in 1992. I obtained one of the few training positions in Switzerland.

After the birth of my daughter began a time of reflection. I wished to be able to work as a surgeon but was not interested in research and academic merits.

In pediatric surgery I was able to use my experience in the treatment of severe burns and at the same time learned besides the special operation how to communicate with sick children and their parents.

After a interim position as head physician in Emmental the next 4 years were spent in Basel’s University Hospital in the plastic and reconstructive surgery department. It was during this time that I realized how much I enjoy teaching and being with students.

In 2000 I left Basel to join a fellow student in his beautiful office in Küsnacht. Unfortunately there was not place for two full-time physicians.

In 2002 Dr. Christophe Christ and Dr. Enrique Steiger after the remodeling of their offices offered me a room in their clinic. I moved in May 2003.

In November 2005 I finally opened my own spacious office on Romerhof. Here I employed my first trainee. The clinic offers not only surgical advice and wrinkle treatments but also per operative lymph drainage and HCG diet.

A newly formed partnership with two public hospitals in the region lets me help the underprivileged who can not afford the usual fees.
