Toe shortening surgery (foot shortening)

Hi,

I would like to get some information regarding Big Toe Shortening.

My Big toe is really long and really affects the way I feel.

I would like to know what is the procedure, what are the risks and how much does it cost.

Many thanks

Martina

Hello Martina,

generally there are toe main op- procedures that commonly are being proceeded. The first method is the shortening of the big toe by fusioning a small joint.
The other method is the shortening by taking out a piece of the bone.

The risks of these operations can be infections and a no- healing of the bones.
The costs depends from the extension of the operation and which method has been chosen. Normally the costs are between  2500... Show number 2500-4000  Telephone € for one side.

Best regards,

Dear Martina,

it´s possible to shorten the big toes more or less 1cm by taking out a piece of bone out of the middle of the proximal phalanx and fixing it with one or two screws (alternative one screw and one wire). The risks of this procedure are very low (for example infections or problems with bone healing (non-union, delayed union and malunion)) and solvable. Shortening more than 1 cm could damage the function. The costs are about  2000... Show number 2000-2500  Telephone €.

We generally shorten the big toe via skin and soft tissue surgery, without cutting the bones. It can narrow the width of the big toe, the nail and somewhat also shortens the length. The procedure is simplified, done totally under local anesthesia as a day care.
