Lower Blephoraplasty Swelling

Hi, I had a lower blephoraplasty done 3 & 1/2 weeks ago, my right eye is healing well and there is not much swelling left however my left eye is still heavily swollen. There was more work done to the left eye including burning fat, however I haven’t seen improvement in 2 weeks in the swelling. I’m starting to stress out about it, that it won’t improve for months. Does anyone have any ideas what I should do?

Don‘t worry. After such an operation it Looks different every day during the first six weeks. You have to wait....

Dear JCK, we use a Non-Swelling Blepharoplasty technique, in which there is no swelling of the eyelids soon after your procedure. Since, a conventional blepharoplasty of your lower lids was carried out with extra-manipulation / burning of fat pads on your left lower lid, there is more swelling on your left side. It can take several weeks/months to go away completely. You can use anti-inflammatory enzyme preparations, and an anti-histaminre tablet like tablet Rigix 10mg once at night. Along with these, you can pad and close your left eye for 1 week. These measures will help reduce / get rid of your swelling quickly.

Hi, thanks all for the comments, I had a visit with my surgeon after 12 weeks when my left eye was still very swollen and he gave me a cortisone shot to break up the scar tissue. After a week it made a big difference. It’s now been about 6 weeks since, but hasn’t really improved from after that initial week, I just wanted to get some opinions as to where it’s currently at? It’s probably been about 18 weeks since the operation. The left eye gets really puffy in the morning and gradually gets better during the day, but is still not where I want it to be. I have been strict on my diet removing as much sodium as I can, I have taken anti inflammatory tablets each day also. The last checkup I had, he said that he will need to do another cortisone under the left eye but needs to wait another 4-6 weeks because he doesn’t want to do it so close to the first one he did. Can you let me know if you think the swelling/puffiness under the left eye will eventually minimise / go away.? Thankyou,
