I have discomfort after several months post op

I had an upper and lower bleph, fat grafting and mid face life on 10/21/2020. Very reputable local surgeon. I am still experiencing severe numbness on both sides of my face from my cheek bones down to my jaw, on the sides of my eyes and underneath my chin and neck. I’ve had several conversations and exams with my surgeon who says that I have healed perfectly with “wonderful esthetic results.” While I feel I may look a little better than before my surgery, I have been in such agony with the numbness I can barely function. I don’t feel the doctor understands the degree of discomfort I am experiencing with the pain/tingling/burning all over my face. I thought I had done my due diligence in what the expect on recovery but I totally missed the numbness aspect that I now understand could take a year to go away and possibly may never go away completely. I am depressed and find every day a struggle.

Hi Jlb, numbness can take place and can be prolonged in some cases. However, in our cases, it is not extensive like in your case or prolonged. It only lasts in most cases till the effects of anesthesia last. Pain, tingling and burning should also be not that prolonged. You can take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for pain, a multivitamin containing especially B-complex. You can get in touch with us. We can advise you much better after seeing your before / after photos on direct message. All the best !
