Swelling on one side?

Hi I had labiaplasty done 7 days ago. The left side of my labia looks all trimmed and shortened. The right side of my labia is hanging so low, it could be even lower than before the surgery. How can one side swell and not the other? And does swelling actually cause it to hang that low? I feel like even if this is normal to happen after surgery, the excessive swelling will cause the right side to stretch and therefore hang lower even once recovered. Please help. I’ve never felt stress like this.

I had mine 5 days ago - the key is to wait wait wait. And ice and elevate. It will all be okay. Once the swelling goes down in 6 weeks then you can reassess.

Im still in bed as we speak. It has been painful but not unbearable. Im using Endone to sleep at night. My clitorous is very swollen so that is the part that is hurting the most at this time.

Yeah that hurt for me too but it’s been 2 weeks and still one side is much longer than the other so just have to be patient and see what’s gonna happen. I’m also going through thrush now which could be worse than the pain I previously experienced

I had a thrush infection about 3 months ago and almost died it was horrendous!!! There are over the counter tablets you can buy in Melbourne. Literally solved it within 2 days. How long after surgery until you returned to work?

And by work I mean finally being able to go on my laptop at home since I work from home. On google it says 2-4 days patients shall return to work. Wasn’t the case for me. If I didn’t work from home I still wouldn’t be back today which marks 2 weeks

I was meant to go back today. Called my plastic surgeon and asked for extra days because i am a primary teacher and there was no way I was going to do yard duty and be able to walk around. Im literally in bed with an icepack at this exact moment. Did you see a plastic surgeon or a gyno?

Yeah don’t go back until you’re ready. Sometimes when you think you’ve healed some pain or itching comes back which could be dreadful to face in public! I saw a plastic surgeon, what about you?

I just really want my right side to start looking like the left and I’ll be happy.. I’ve had sleepless nights!

Absolutely going to be taking it as easy as I can. I think the “itchy stage” has yet to start.

I also saw a plastic surgeon. Did you take before and after pics?

I just has a “proper look” and one of my sides is absolutely more swollen than the other too. Ill compare again at 6 weeks.

With the daily discomfort I was in everyday - this is going to be pretty life changing (once i am all healed).

Hi there, a photo will be useful in order to judge on it...
regarding a swelling, might be major and also asymmetric, you should contact your surgeon
a good help for a swelling is ice locally and medication orally (Reparil tablets)
good luck, kind regards, Dr. Jo

I have contacted my surgeon and I was told to patient and wait for 6 weeks. Except after 2nd week I expect it to even out more... what happens if it’s not symmetrical? How do you tell this to surgeon and do they do a revision for you or does it cause conflict

Hi, you need ice packing, anti-inflammatory enzyme preparations orally like chymoral or chymotrip forte 2 daily and wait for about 6-8 weeks. If after the swelling has gone away after this time, you can check any difference in the size and shape of your labia. A touch up labiaplasty can always be performed for correction if required.

Do not worry, you have no choice right now, only to wait patiently, if your surgeon does not want to see you, and calm you down, that´s not good, he/she should be there for his/her patients each day, you can send him/her a photo if you do not want to show it here. And yes, you have right to ask each question even it looks like a stupid one. You can freely show all your concerns and YES, if there is anything to correct, then you can ask for it. There is NO conflict between two of you. Walk tall and good luck. Warm regards

Hi! I’m 3 weeks post op on Wednesday and one side is still longer I am just hoping it will even out. From day 5-6 when it was the worst I have seen improvement in terms of swelling but as I said it’s still longer so I’m unsure :/ is this common to be assymetry?

Not that I’m aware of because they are fixing from the previous surgery but may be different for every clinic
