I am desperately in need of a nose job , I have wanted it done to remove the bump in my nose for a few years. What is stopping me are the horror stories of people who are in perfect health who don't wake up from surgery. What is the likelyhood I would not wake up? I have no respiratory problems or heart conditions and i am 22. And is it true there are surgeons who will perform the surgery with local anesthesia where you can be awake but numb and groggy during the procedure?

Hi

It is normal to be nervous and will have something scary to think you a nasal surgery, but should not be so. We do our patients previous medical evaluations. In order to know if they are in good health and ensure their safety.

Rhinoplasty can be performed with sedation, but in my particular criteria prefer to be asleep.

If you interested in more information about the process in your case send me photos of front, right and izquiero profile, plus your weight and height.

Hi.

In your case we must work the nasal dorsum, nasal tip and improve the alar cartilages. Also make osteotomies to narrow the back.

The cost of the surgery would be 2,500.00 dollars. We are in the Dominican Republic, we'd need to be in the country from 15 to 21 days for monitoring and control.

For more information you can contact me and schedule your surgery.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Local anesthesia is the best option for you to have your surgery, yet remain awake and combat your phobia.

I do perform a large number of rhinoplasty (and other aesthetic procedures) for almost 20 years and I have never had a case that patient would not wake up from general anesthesia. However, it is extremely important going into the surgery to check that patient is a healthy individual. That is why we check medical history, current status of prescribed medication and medical conditions. Often patients need to see their primary providers to be cleared for surgery.
Safety of the patient is the most important and if the patient does not qualify, surgery cannot take place till medical issues are fully resolved.
I do not perform this type of surgery under local anesthesia. It is a bad idea to put the patient in this kind of physical discomfort.
