Do I need to wear compression garment after tummy tuck suregry?

I’m 36 years old and planning to get tummy tuck surgery from L. C. Medical Centre in Montreal. I have made an appointment with Dr. O for next week. I’m planning to do the surgery in winter break as I’m a school teacher. How long after the surgery can I go back to my work? Do I have to wear a compression garment after the surgery? I would really appreciate your comments!!

Hi the recovery time is 10/15 days this. Our patients spend this time with us in monterrey mexico. And yes you need 3 weeks with a compression garment. Consider us in mexico. GBY

Hi mme,
for me personally i recommend 3 weeks, but this is not possible for everybody, so at least 2 weeks. As you're a teacher, this is not " physical"(except if you're a sports teacher :-) so this should normally work out.
Compression garment: i say 4-6 weeks, but if this bothers you more than than it does good, then i tell my patients to take it off.
sincerely

You need to wear a compression garment after tummy tuck at times. The wearing time of garment varies from 3 weeks to 3 months, depending on the type of tummy tuck you have gone through. Most of our patients wear garment for 4-5 days continuously, then for 12 hours for 2-3 more weeks. Since we use "KHAWAJA'S SIMPLIFIED TUMMY TUCK" under local anesthesia, recovery is quickest and fastest. If you undergo "KHAWAJA'S SCARLESS TUMMY TUCK", you do not need any compression garment.

Yes, you have to wear compression garments for at least 6 weeks. In the first week, you have to wear 24/7, and only change during bath while taking a shower. It is responsible to control the swelling, healing and scar formation. After the first week, you need to wear it for at least 10-12 hours a day.

usually for this type of procedure the best option is to have at least 15 to 20 days, to recover and attend to your check ups with the surgeon, as well to remove stitches and make sure all the recovery is going well, also you will have to wear a compression garment for at least 4 weeks after your surgery and you have to wear it 24/7 to have better support and results.

You will definitely be able to go back to work within 4 days to 1 week post surgery. Every patient tolerates pain differently, so it may take you shorter or longer period of time to recover. A garment is worn until your plastic surgeon tells you its okay to take it off. 4 - 6 weeks is the typical amount of time to wear your compression garment. Best of luck for your surgery,

Dear madam,

I suggest you to wear it all the time. It will ease your discomfort and make you feel better during recovery. It is usual for the patients who work in school to continue their work two weeks after the surgery.
