Hey can someone tell me if I’m healing okay?? I did a labiaplasty and dehooding yesterday and the hood seems really swollen and bulky everything still protrudes, is this part of the healing? Thanks
Very painful post-op
Very painful post-op
Hope i can get some reassurance here. I decided to get labiaplasty as my left was 4 inches long and always interfered with my daily activities and so on...
My OGBYN performed the surgery and sounded like he has done many before mine. I obviously didn't do enough research.
I feel as if i was botched this is not including complications.
Let's start with complications first day 1 and 2 serve pain can't walk just hobble to the bathroom
Bleeding subsides things are looking really good starting to walk with a little hunch but up
Bowel movement...OMG why was i not told on aftercare to take stool softners long story short I'm not that intelligent lol my poo got stuck it was so hard episode was like 4 hours on and off in the bathroom finally one came out stool softner working next on out stuck on the way as well. It was extremely uncomfortable and painful. I looked down and noticed a huge looking hemorrhoid thing between my rectum and vagina...i called my doctor in the morning no one got back to me until 430pm. I went to the hospital next morning ao they can look and it was a different doctor and she said my perinum muscle is strained and that pocket is full of fluid, you pulled a few surtures looks superficial and had an infection starting, she then proceeded to tell me that there was no labia left and i said ok so he shouldn'thave taken that off? All i wanted was a trim. So now i grew curious ao i started to look myself as i could at this point it was less swelled and could see most of my incision site.
Pretty much I'm upset that i didn't do my research but more importantly id like some professional advice and other womans experiences if similar to mine.
I still have some pain on my left side but only taking advil/tyenol together every 6 hoirs or so
In the photos i posted my clitorous looks banged up and looks like 2 cuts were placed in it and my labias are non existant and i have what appears to be maybe a blood clot or hematoma...I'm just freaking out over all of this everything i read on the internet was 3-5days and now i have all these complications.
Typing this is my 7th day
3-5 days recovery is not true. Dr.'s underestimate recovery time for this procedure and everyone is different. No way I could have gone back to work for the first two weeks and my PS told me "a few days" (some ppl takes even longer to heal). Did they give you antibiotics and bacitracin? I would be more concerned about infection rn since it's very early on hard to tell what it will look like.
i wasn't recommended a stool softener either and I said the same thing on day 2 lol. I'm a few weeks in from my labiaplasty I hope things get better for you week 2 as they did for me
Yeah they need to stop saying "minor" and "3-5 days" maybe state what technique is being used not sure if the wedge would be better for healing. This doctor edged for sure. She sent me home with an antibiotic but they never once mentioned bacitracin. I have heard about this all over and nope none. Infection is gone now. Have a yeast now and demerititis from my pads😡 fml literally. I just went in yesterday to make sure everything was going ok and i confronted him on the cuts on my clit and he said "yeah i did take a bit off up there that's probably why you were in so much pain" me:"so your sayijg this is going to now affect my orgasms i asked to be comfortable down there" along with his apology for not sendijg me with stool softners ..anyways it's just a complete shit show. I can finally walk which is nice going back to work tmrw.
Ps. How does something so simple slip there mind probably should have it on post op paper sheesh. Thank you for your input appreciate it
I was a disaster for the first probably 10 days and could not walk properly for 2 weeks....I took stool softners for the first week so maybe you can keep taking them for the next while. I found around the two week Mark things started to get better so hang in there! I am 3.5 weeks out and still not completely healed
Exactly lol My Dr is a female so I expected a little more from her lol but I guess they deal with it every day it doesn't phase them. I'm so happy to hear you were able to go back to work and the infection is gone! That's good news! Glad I'm working from home I couldn't have gone back to the office lmao I still get itching spells @ the Worst times it would be so embarrassing. Every week it gets better!
A week is not enough time at all!! It took 3 months for me to feel completely normal again! I had a similar experience to yours. I know how hard it is but you have got to be patient! And if your labia were amputated, there are amazing surgeons out there who can reconstruct them with clitoral hood tissue! Please don’t fret too much I know it’s terrifying.
Thank you for your response. I felt alone and terrified slowly getting better but the one side of my clitorus is not attached. I was definitely botched but im getting better with discomfort
Hi Burg, I would love to reassure you but I can not, sorry. Your postoperative result does not look good at all. Besides an excessive trimming you have a serious problem with your healing. A huge hematoma, a wound dehiscence and a possible necrosis with infection. You should immediately contact your surgeon or another one. It will takes weeks as now it will heal secondary.
To calm down a woman after labia amputation that a possible reconstruction with a clitoral hood tissue is an option, brings often an unrealistic hope as it does not always work. Not each patient has enough tissue for this reconstruction and if simultaneous clitoral unhooding was done, then there is no chance at all! Women should think very seriously to whom they will trust with this operation. What I do not like is that almost each doctor does this operation although they are not experienced enough. Only because they think it is so "easy" and want to earn money under all circumstances...They degrade this operation regarding its complexity and time consumption. I am sure your operation was done pretty quick. This is not a way but unless surgeons do not start to take it seriously and patients do not do their homework and spend more time with searching the best ones, we will continue to see similar botched results...
I wish you a good secondary healing and good luck in a future. Kind regards, Dr. Jo
This awful... I will be reporting this doctor after i have a discussion of my 6 week post op. The one side where i had the hematoma the top of my clitorus is extremely sensitive. I specifically asked my doctor for a trim not amputation. I have a question where do you see the necrosis and what future pain can this cause me?
Hi can you help me? I had labiaplasty and dehooding yesterday, it seems very swollen and is protruding a lot, which was not my goal. Is this just apart of healing ? Thanks so much
I did not have a anything done to my clitoral hood but I had a labiaplasty 7 weeks ago and me entire inner and outer lips were completely black and purple and swollen and did nit even resemble how they look now. It was really really painful. You just have to rest and be patient....mine looked terrifying until about day 12 then já slowly went to normal
Just for reference the first pic was about day 3 (the white stuff is antibiotic cream) and the other is about week 5
Hey thanks for the reply, I’m just a day after and the swollenness on the hood is concerning me, I feel like when it heals it is so protruded maybe it’s not done how I wanted ??? Do you think my swelling will change the look in 7 weeks to make it not protrude like this?
Well I’m no doctor buuut I can tell you that there was one part on my vagina like near the back that was probably 4 times the size after surgery than it is now....you could certainly ask your surgeon but in my experience the swelling was insane and I was not expecting it to look like that after surgery. I did some reading online after and people were saying their surgeons told them not even to look down there because of the horrific sight! Mine was so gross and swollen that pic I posted doesn’t even do it justice. I think you will be just fine. I found frozen peas helped the pain along with tylonol ever four hours and the antibiotic cream I had contained a numbing agent.
I was also freaking out real bad and posting all over here lol I think it’s just really really swelled up right now and will go down in a couple weeks!
Oh I know thanks! Is this the site where doctors can comment their opinion? I’m having a hard time getting in touch with someone for an opinion. I did a lot of research before I feel like a lot of the healing process I know looks bad aha but with mine I’m wondering if we didn’t remove the right amount of tissue on the hooding that I wanted or if it’s just looking very large and sticking out from swelling? I’m on the second day and I feel okay! I had 1 tylonal just laying in bed and I feel pretty normal. Thanks for replying to me! Lol same I’m posting all on here and getting no replies so idk aha
How are you doing now? I was very badly freaking out the first week of my surgery, although i can’t comment on your surgery pics because i’m not a surgeon i just want you to know things do get better the more you heal, i’m 5 weeks post op tomorrow and i feel good!
I'm so much better now. I definitely was amputated which I did not ask for. I just ask for a trim and to be comfortable. Guess it could be much worse. Glad you doing well I'm in my 5th week thursday and feel so much better. I get a little pain on my left side as he cut into my clitorus hood and now it's not attached and just feels tight/dry at times guess its part of healing
