Adem Erdogan, MD
Pioneer and trailblazer in aesthetic and orthopedic foot surgery
Dr. Erdogan is an established surgeon and the longstanding chief physician of a medical center for foot and ankle surgery. Prior to his current position, he was chief resident of a department for plastic and aesthetic hand and foot surgery and was head of the foot surgery department. Faced with an ever increasing patient population, he decided to found the Medical Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery in Schleiden. Here, he combined surgical techniques used in plastic and aesthetic surgery with techniques used in foot surgery. Today, he is one of Germany's leading aesthetic and orthopedic foot surgeons. He is also one of the few pioneers to establish aesthetic foot surgery in Germany. Dr. Erdogan is a speaker at international and national foot surgery conferences where he exchanges ideas on the latest developments in modern foot surgery with his colleagues.
He also trains aspiring foot surgeons and podologists.
After graduating in medicine from Heinrich-Heine-University and obtaining his medical license in 2000, he mapped out his career around his goal of obtaining a wide range of skills and experience in surgical techniques.
In 2000, he started practicing in the orthopedics department of St. Franziskus Hospital in Cologne where he discovered his special interest in foot surgery, which he has fostered ever since. Later, Dr. Erdogan transferred to the department for general, accident and vascular surgery at Johanna-Etienne Hospital in Neuss, where he expanded his experience in elective (planable) and traumatic (emergency) foot surgery. Dr. Erdogan also assisted in vascular procedures such as the laying of complex bypasses in the legs and main arteries.
From 2002 to 2006, Dr. Erdogan was physician assistant in the department of trauma surgery and the department of general, visceral and vascular surgery, where he completed his extensive and in-depth training in major surgery. Due to his high level of commitment, he has been asked to teach and co-organize numerous surgery courses, such as endoscopic suturing, at the annual congress of the German Society of Surgery, among others.
After successfully completing his surgical residency in 2006, Dr. Erdogan started his first job with staff responsibility and was appointed attending physician of the department of plastic hand and foot surgery in St. Antonius Hospital in Schleiden. He started combining surgical techniques used in plastic surgery with those used in modern foot surgery at about the same time as Wiethoff. He also performed countless reconstructive foot procedures.
Dr. Erdogan was certified by the German Association for Foot Surgery (GFFC) in 2008.
The number of patients continued to grow from year to year. In 2008, Dr. Erdogan was appointed chief physician of the newly founded Medical Center for Foot Surgery and Diabetic Foot Syndrome at St. Antonius Hospital in Schleiden.
Dr. Erdogan is a speaker at the International Conference for Foot Surgery and is also a lecturer and instructor for podologists and aspiring emergency physicians. His extensive experience in orthopedics and emergency and vascular surgery as well as his position as coordinator of the diabetic foot syndrome network, plus his extensive experience in the surgical treatment of all foot disorders and injuries, including diabetic foot syndrome, have enabled him to lay a sound foundation in modern comprehensive foot surgery – functional and aesthetic. Dr. Erdogan regularly attends continuing education courses, as well as conferences and surgery courses at home and abroad.
