Ms Nora Nugent is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery in the Kent and Sussex area of England.   She offers an extensive range of facial rejuvenation techniques from medical grade skin care and facial peels to muscle relaxing anti-wrinkle injections (BotoxTM) and dermal fillers through to facial cosmetic surgery such as blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), facelifts and rhinoplasty (nose reshaping).
As well as facial aesthetic surgery, Nora also performs aesthetic breast surgery such as breast augmentations, reductions and lifts (mastopexy) and body contouring surgery such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction.  She will also see patients following significant weight loss for body contouring surgery such as arm or thigh lifts or body lifts.
Nora encourages and helps her patients to achieve a fresh and natural look and a unique treatment plan is put in place for each of her patients tailored to their needs.  She will see you at least twice before your surgery and discuss all your options in detail with you.

Specialization and preferred practice areas

Nora Nugent specialises in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery offering a very comprehensive range of aesthetic procedures.  She also performs reconstructive surgery such as after burns, breast cancer, skin cancer or trauma.

Professional philosophy

My practice covers cosmetic, hand and reconstructive plastic surgery.  I treat adults and children.  I aim to provide an individually tailored, comprehensive approach to your assessment and treatment.  Attention to detail and a professional, caring approach are the cornerstones of this ethos in my practice. I also believe that my patients deserve to make fully informed decisions about their treatment in a non pressurised setting.  I am supported in this by my practice team and by the hospitals that I practice in.  We try to ensure that your experience with us is a positive one from your initial consultation through to your treatment and your follow up visits.
As a female plastic surgeon, I encourage and help my patients to achieve a fresh, natural look.  I offer an honest opinion and will discuss all your options with you including realistic expectations of the outcome.  This will help you come to your decision.  I and my team will support you throughout the process from your first consultation to the end of your treatment with us to attain the best possible results for you.

Claire has a wealth of experience in plastic surgery practice management and her knowledge as well as her very kind and caring manner will help you during your treatment with Ms Nugent.

Education and practice

Ms Nora Nugent is a fully qualified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon.  She is registered on the specialist register in plastic surgery with the General Medical Council (GMC No: 6116591) and the Irish Medical Council (IMC No: 23855) and holds the FRCS (Plast) qualification as well as a certificate of completion of specialist training in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.  She has also obtained the European Diploma in Hand Surgery.
Nora graduated from medical school at University College Dublin and completed her basic surgical training and specialist training in plastic surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.  To further develop her clinical expertise, she then undertook specialist fellowships in North America and Australia.
Training in advanced burn critical care and burn surgery (acute and reconstructive) was undertaken during her fellowship at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Galveston, Texas.  Prior to taking up her consultant post, Nora obtained additional subspecialty training in Australia completing a plastic surgery fellowship at St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney which encompassed both reconstructive surgery (including microsurgery) and all areas of aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery.  This was followed by a hand surgery fellowship with Victorian Hand Surgery Associates, Melbourne.  On returning from Australia, she took up a consultant post with the internationally renowned Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.

During your consultation with Nora, she will ask you about your reasons for coming to see her i.e. why you are considering plastic surgery, what you hope to achieve from it and what you already know about the procedure you are interested in.  As well as this, she will ask about your general health, medications, allergies and relevant medical conditions.  Nora will also perform a thorough examination and after this will give you a clear and honest opinion about which treatment she feels is best for you.  Clinical photographs are routinely taken before and after procedures and form an essential part of your medical record, both for planning your surgery and for monitoring your results.  Once Nora has explained your options and made her recommendations, she will then explain what the chosen procedure will involve and achieve, what to expect during the recovery period afterwards and the potential risks and complications associated with it.
For aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery patients, Nora will need to see you at least twice before your surgery to ensure that you fully understand the procedure and have had a chance to ask any questions that you may have.  Sometimes she may recommend postponing a procedure e.g. if you are in the process of losing weight or plan on a pregnancy in the near future for breast or abdominal surgery.
